Simple:Press 5.1 Released

As promised Simple:Press version 5.1.0 has been released today and made available for download and for upgrading via the WordPress admin tools. Also released are updates to all of the supplied themes and what feels like most of the plugins!

There are the usual long list of minor bug fixes and small enhancements – many of which have been discussed in these pages over the last few weeks. But we like to think there are some gems in there too – and some of them long overdue. Like the upgraded Move Posts forum tool that has been requested for so long. Being able to now install theme and plugin zip files from within the admin. A new Delete Post button. Collapsible forum groups.

We have also continued our policy of looking for any areas that can be optimised for better performance with an improved new post checking protocol and a rewritten Gravatar cache plugin which is a must for those users utilising them.

As noted previously, Subscriptions have had a major overhaul in response to continued feature requests and the Uploader has also seen many small but significant improvements.

Check out the full list after you have downloaded and upgraded in the Change Log (forum admin > Toolbox). And for those with custom themes – take a look at the changes that might interest you in our codex article summarising theme and template modifications.

And we have not forgotten our promise on new plugins either. Over the next few days or so we will also be releasing some new ones. Expect to see the new Post Preview and Uploads Viewer plugin that have been active on our forums here for a few weeks. There is also a new plugin that allows you to add descriptions to topics on it’s way and a little further down the road but about to enter some final testing – the awaited Post by Email plugin.

We hope there is something here to tempt you to upgrade. And while you are doing that – we are off to start looking at what we want to try and get done for 5.2 !
